Founded in 1983
A family-run garage based in Colyton, Devon, with 40+ years' experience.
The origins of Colyton Garage started as early as before the second world war
Colyton Garage started at Queen's Square Colyton, when it was run as a cycle, motorcycle and car garage.
In 1971 The car repair business was taken over by Dennis Moss, who had worked for the Soanes family since the late 1940s, the cycle shop next door carried on being run by the Soanes family and this continues to this day.
1972-1985
In 1972 Jeremy Shepperd started an apprenticeship at the garage working for his Uncle Dennis. They worked in that premises until 1985 when Dennis bought the former East Devon Coach builders workshop at Hamfields Dolphin Street, the business was transferred there and called Colyton Garage.
Soon after Anthony Hutchings joined the crew straight from school, to complete an apprenticeship, he is a loyal member of the team to this day.
1989~
In1989 Jeremy became a partner in the business with his Uncle Dennis and Auntie Iris.
In 1996 Dennis and Iris retired, Jeremy took over the running of the garage being helped by his brother Chris, who had formerly worked for a Bank, he took over the clerical and accounts side of the business.
2002~
In late 2002 Jeremy and Chris bought the former Jeremy Webber agricultural vehicle repair workshop at 3-4 Old Station Yard.
They moved all the equipment from Hamfields and started trading from this site on January 1st 2003, the business was incorporated soon after, Chris and Jeremy as directors.

2013~
In 2013 Andrew Shepperd came to work in the family business having completed an apprenticeship at a Ford service dealer in Sidmouth, working with Tim Ambrose. Chris retired in 2016 leaving Jeremy as sole director.
Tim, a fully qualified technician joined our team around 2021 running the reception, booking customers in, parts ordering and workshop liaison. He is our first point of contact and has a really good rapport with customers and suppliers alike.
TODAY
The business continues today being run by Andrew with great help from Tim, Anthony and Jamie our latest young mechanical recruit.
